JOHN & JEN - A NEW MUSICAL

SIMON LOUGHTON

Simon often jokes to others that, although he started dancing because of Gene Kelly and started singing because of Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson, he had decided to take up acting while watching the TV show Friends.

Simon has performed in many musicals and plays over the last 9 years, including FOOTLOOSE, THE TROJAN WOMEN, SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, BYE! BYE! BIRDIE, STEPPING OUT, ME AND MY GIRL, THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND and most recently in GREEN! GOLD! & MUSICAL with Yellow Glass Theatre.

Simon has completed a Certificate II in Musical Theatre at WAAPA, and also a Diploma in Musical Theatre at Stage Door. He plans to further his studies and career in performing arts, wherever that may take him.

 

KARLA CONWAY

Karla has been involved in all aspects of Musical Theatre for well over 15 years. She studied Drama at the University of Missouri and it was there that she established her love for directing. She also has a BA (Drama) from Edith Cowan and a Masters in Teaching (Drama) from Notre Dame University.

Karla's numerous performance credits include The Pyjama Game, Godspell, The Blues Brothers, Hamlet in Purgatory and Much Ado About Nothing. She has also performed principle roles including Daisy in Daisy Pulls it Off, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and Carmen Diaz in Fame.

Karla has spent the last few years directing both Drama and Musical Theatre shows such as The Government Inspector, The Long and The Short and The Tall and Jesus Christ Superstar. Most notably, Karla was the esteemed Director of the Western Australian Premiere of The Producers in May 2007. In her most recent creative endeavour, Karla combined her performance and directing skills in the inaugural production of THE PAGE OF WANDS THEATRE COMPANY.

RYAN DAWSON

Ryan is an experienced performer, skilled in singing, dancing and acting. Originally from Perth, Ryan has completed the Certificate II (Music Theatre) at WAAPA and has performed extensively, both at home and internationally.

His performance credits include Two Gentlemen of Verona, Working, Godspell, The Pyjama Game and he has performed in the lead roles of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Agwe in Once on This Island and Ren in Footloose. He has dabbled in short films and is also an accomplished dancer.

Ryan is currently a third year student, studying the BA (Honours) degree in Music Theatre at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts.

 

DANIELLE O'MALLEY

Danielle is also currently undertaking a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Musical Theatre at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, Singapore. Previous to this, she studied musical theatre at the W.A. Academy of Dance and Drama where she also taught musical theatre, dancing and acting classes to students of all ages.

Danielle has had extensive experience in both cabaret and musical theatre. Her credits include Colours of the Wind, Stephen Sewell's Dreams in an Empty City and musical productions of Two Gentlemen of Verona, Working, Once on this Island and the Toy Factory Production of Cabaret at the prestigious Esplanade Theatre in Singapore.

Danielle's television credits include the ABC mini-series Shark Net. She has performed for corporate clients, such as Lexus and Amway, and also at the IIFA Awards (Bollywood Oscars!).

 

MATTHEW KIELY

Matthew started his theatre journey in Melbourne performing with several leading local theatre companies, with roles such as Billy in California Suite and Michael in Freedom Of The City amongst his favourites.

Since moving to Perth in 2001, his credits include Don in Don's Party, Gary in I Hate Hamlet, and Greg in Sylvia. In 2005, Matthew played the role of Vince Fontaine in Grease at the Regal Theatre and later that year appeared in I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change for Playlovers Inc.

Last year, Matthew created the role of Nicky in yellow glass theatre's Australian premiere production of I Sing, Downstairs at His Majesty's Theatre.
